STINGER
Remind children that honeybees only sting when they and their colony
are in danger. The stinger is the bee's only means of defence. A worker honeybee can only
sting once.
Children sit in a circle or hexagon with their eyes closed. Walk around and tap one child
on the shoulder. This child is the "stinger". When the signal is given, everyone
opens their eyes. The "stinger" winks at people, trying not to be noticed. When
you get winked at, you have been stung and must stand. If you suspect the
"stinger", you call out his/her name. If you are correct, you get to pick the
next "stinger". If you are wrong, you must stand. If the "stinger" is
successful, the last victim selects the next "stinger".
